Reggae, or 'The King's Music' (so said Bob Marley) is music that can be blasted from your sound system, soulful grooves that can be heartbreaking, uptempo Ska that can certainly be skanked to and perhaps (for some!) music that you can smoke a fat one to!
We think of influential artists such as Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Toots & The Maytals, The Skatalites, Gregory Isaacs, Alton Ellis, Prince Buster, Sly And Robbie and Burning Spear with pioneering artists of Dub Reggae such as King Tubby, Lee Perry, Scientist, Augustus Pablo and Roots Radics and the 'iconic' labels such as Trojan, Studio One, Blue Beat, Coxsone, Fab, Treasure Isle, Doctor Bird, Camel, Crab, Greensleeves, Attack, Island, 2 Tone and Bullet. In terms of record collecting, Reggae and many of its sub-genres, is commonplace with many collectors willing to spend vast sums of money on that crucial 'must have' record!
Listed below are a couple of 'choice' records that would be fantastic to see coming in - if you don't have these don't worry though as we're always delighted to see record collections containing Reggae, especially if they're in clean condition!
